What’s in a teacup?

What’s in a teacup?

What’s in a teacup?  I recall someone telling me, Tea is like life, its what you make of it! .. simple but so true!

I found my love for tea when we travelled to Sri Lanka on a holiday in Nuwara Eliya, where we had the privilege of staying at the famous Hill Club, an affiliate of our Tanglin Club, and visiting the tea plantations.

I was always an avid coffee drinker and grew up in Singapore, where tea meant a cup of frothy TEH SARABAT, a milky sweetened drink, that you don’t taste the tea at all!

Being in the midst of the serene slopes of the rolling tea gardens, overwhelmed with fresh earthy scent of the tea bushes was just an amazing experience and to be able to taste cups of fresh pure Ceylon tea brewed in the tea factory, was simply unforgettable.  I think that was when I tasted real tea!

Since then, my journey to find out more about tea began and one thing led to another, where Raintree Teas was incepted.  I never imagined that there was so much to learn and discover…what’s in a teacup!  Really.
